Tollycraft 61 Motor Yacht
Tollycraft's 61' Motor Yacht is a contemporary classic
August 25, 2000
Spearheading the "new look" at Tollycraft is the 61' Motor Yacht, which combines the styling of a low-profile custom yacht with the economy of fiberglass production. The result of a collaboration between founder R.M. (Tolly) Tollefson and designer Ed Monk, Jr., the new Airex-cored Quadra Lift hull is fuel and power efficient as well as seaworthy enough to take the often adverse Pacific Northwest conditions with grace. Double chines at the waterline serve as stabilizers for the round bottomed hull (13-degrees amidship deadrise), as well as knock down spray and reduce the wetted area of the hull. The result is a stable, comfortable ride and a cruising speed of 16 knots.
The pilothouse on this boat is spacious and well-organized, with a large chart table, wet gear locker, raised settee with table, and access to side decks and bridge. Overhead panels are provided for electronics, and a radar cabinet is near the helm.
The main saloon is elegantly paneled in teak with buffet, wet bar, large couch with table, tiled fireplace, and writing desk. An entertainment center houses stereo and television, and a buffet is provided for casual dining. Double doors lead past built-in bookcases to the covered after cockpit, which is handy for docking, mooring, or dinghy handling.
The galley is a gourmet's delight. Forward of the saloon but still open and airy, it is complete with dishwasher, garbage disposal and trash compactor. A microwave oven augments the conventional oven and four burner stove, and there is both refrigerator and freezer, plus storage cabinets large enough to hold Cuisinart or other items.
A spiral staircase leads from the pilothouse to the three staterooms below. The owner's stateroom has a queen-sized berth and lounging settee as well as built-in night tables, lighted vanity and dressing table. Storage is extensive, with a full-height wardrobe, bureau, and hanging lockers. The spacious private head compartment has both tub and shower.
The forward guest stateroom also features a queen-sized berth, while the starboard stateroom has twin berths and both have large wardrobes. The guest cabins share a head compartment to port complete with walk-in shower stall.
Standard power is a pair of Detroit 6-71TI diesels of 410 h.p. each, in an engine room so spacious that it comes with carpeting! To provide complete electrical power, both a 20 KW and 7.7 KW generator are installed. Twin fuel tanks provide sufficient capacity for long cruises as well as the ability to trim the yacht by transferring fuel, and there is also a lubrication oil tank in the engine room. An impressive standard equipment list includes items such as power windlass, electric dinghy davit with dinghy, central vacuum cleaner system, fiberglass radar arch, and an array of custom fabrics and colors.
